The Manifold Of The Thresholds focuses on two issues; the nature of the marbling technique and the notion of the threshold.

Marbling is a traditional technique of painting on the surface of the water. In the intersection of the two media; the water and the air, patterns, and shapes are born on the surface of the water. Through this painting method, I reinterpret the concept of threshold having both distinctive and adhesive quality. The Manifold of Thresholds discusses ’ the opposition and the association of light and shadow, illusion and reality, permanent and temporary, sacred and profane by constituting a spatial experience.

I create a space where the surfaces are covered with marbled patterns having concentric circles that represent oneness. And with the projector, another layer of marbled patterns is reflected on these surfaces. The density of patterns creates a hallucinative, dizzying effect, where one can lose the sense of space. I become the mediator of this installation. I perform in this installation wearing a dress with an identical pattern that surrounds me. I become a shaman of my universe and celebrate unity.

The goal of ‘The Manifold of Thresholds’ is to merge the two opposing realms and dichotomies together and express the fertile and prosperous quality of the thresholds by building a pattern-loaded installation that is experienced by the viewer in a physical atmosphere. Through this installation, by experimenting with the notion of space, circularity, and limits, I address the idea of oneness in an increasingly polarized world.
