‘The Manifold of Thresholds’ is inspired by the marbling technique, a traditional method of painting on the surface of Water. The Water’s surface becomes a threshold where Water and air intersect, and where patterns and colors emerge. Thresholds both separate and unite.

Drawing on the spiritual and philosophical dimensions of marbling, I created an immersive space in which all surfaces are covered with marbled patterns. Concentric circles symbolize oneness, while projected layers intensify the density of the patterns, creating a dizzying atmosphere that destabilizes spatial perception.

Within this installation, I act as mediator. Wearing a dress that I crafted from the same marbled pattern, my body blends into the environment and begins to disappear. In dissolving into the space, I become one with it, a shaman within my own universe, celebrating unity like the whirling dervishes who move in order to transcend the self to merge with the infinite.

Through this pattern-saturated environment, I explore thresholds as fertile spaces that dissolve dichotomies and point toward oneness in an increasingly polarized world.

The process of marbling: patterns emerging on the surface of the Water, at the threshold between Water and air.
